			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As the seasons transition from fall into winter, it is time to start thinking about how to strengthen and keep our immune systems strong. Last year’s H1N1 situation was a real eye-opener for a lot of people, but the good  news is there are many things that we can do to decrease the frequency, duration, and severity of colds and the flu for you and your family.  I have listed a few of those things below.</p>
<p>I will be offering immune boosting injections this year.  I have found them to be highly effective in helping the immune system cope through Calgary’s long winter.  These immune boosters are a quick injection of German homeopathics that act to strengthen the body&#8217;s own defense system.  For kids there is a drinkable version.</p>
<p>This time of year is also an excellent time to start a detox.  Easing the body’s burdens is another excellent way to strengthen the immune system. As many of you already know – there is a right and a wrong way to detox.  If you are interested in finding out more and which one is right for you – please give the clinic a call to book an appointment.</p>
<p>Tips and Hints for the Cold and Flu Season.</p>
<ol>
<li>Get plenty of sleep (most people require at least 8 hours of sleep per night in the winter)</li>
<li>Wash your hands</li>
<li>Exercise regularly</li>
<li>Take extra vitamin C and, even better, take vitamin A, C, E, selenium and zinc (often sold as ACES or ACES + zinc)</li>
<li>Eat primarily unprocessed and preferably organic food</li>
<li>Do contrast hydrotherapy everyday while in the shower (see handout in the clinic)</li>
</ol>
<p>If you really want to go the extra step in giving your body the best chance at staying healthy this season you can also consider getting an injectable immune booster.</p>
